Everyone is born with the ability to succeed at nearly anything they set out to do. It is a fact that life has thrown some curves at us and knock us down several pegs if we are not consistent in our thoughts and actions. But, everyone was born with the ability to succeed or fail. What matters most is that we don’t get hung up on succeeding or failing.
Success is actually the end result of consistency. You can fact check for yourself that if we apply ourselves to practicing just about anything, we become proficient at it. Humans are a varied species of life created with a set purpose. That purpose was derailed in our infancy by bad decisions.
Bad decisions have been the backbone of many failures in our lifetimes collectively. We all make them, by the way. Sometimes we can’t help ourselves because we feel the need to rush a decision. There is a saying found in Proverbs 19:2, “The one who rushes, misses the way”.
Success comes by way of patience and repeat actions. Ask any successful person what is the one thing that has made them successful and they will tell you that they have learned valuable lessons from when they failed.
For a lot of us we’ve learned to throw in the towel if we fail or get rejected up front. It is like a question many believers ponder. What if I ask and God says no? There are many reasons we get rejected or fail in life. The important detail is not to focus on the, no, but to pay attention to what it is we’re doing.
Success comes through dedication and hard work. Acts 21:11 opens our eyes to Paul being told that he would be bound when he went to Jerusalem. But he went anyway and found some success speaking to the Jews of the time. Yes, he was bound in chains as he was told and it seemed bad. But the life we live should not be muted because of fear.
When we have a purpose or goal, we need to have faith that we are going forward. Worrying about rejection or failure wastes our energy on things that don’t matter. After all in the example provided Paul gained the opportunity to bring the message of the gospel before an audience in Rome, which was a big deal at that time.
When we shrink away because of fear or thoughts we lose out and miss the picture we could have brought to life by acting. The more we practice something the better we become at it. If we practice giving up then we will become proficient at giving up. If we practice failure then we will continually fail. But if our minds continue to look for ways to get the thing done, that we have in mind to do then we will succeed.
Why success? Because that is what we were created by God to do in life. Whatever we repeat we will become good at. When we can see success as the attempt, then we can become proficient at anything because we will continue to practice and put our unique expertise to good work in our communities.
