Failure to Launch

Ever had that stuck feeling that feels like you’ve had a failure to launch?

Feeling stuck in life is not a fun statement or feeling. There are a lot of people who are, though. I used to get stuck to the point where it felt like something was sitting on me. Forget doing things too, because while we’re stuck, we can’t just live. Life will hit us with the one-two combo every time we try to do anything.

Being stuck requires an attitude adjustment. More often than not, we, people in general, get stuck because of the thoughts in our minds or the actions of someone else. The experts will tell you not to beat yourself up, just give it time. In place of getting up and doing the things we need to do, society has begun selling us self-sabotage as a solution for getting stuck.

Sorry all, this is going to be a very real blog post. Anyone is welcome to read, but this writing is for the people who believe in God and find this article.

Imagine you’re having problems concentrating and get sold medication with side effects to solve it, instead of being told to stop being lazy? A lot of the times when we get stuck it is really because our bodies don’t want to do what we have in mind. The feelings that come at us when we feel stuck can be mild to intense.

Imagine having a migraine so bad you have to stop doing anything on a day you need to get work done. These headaches can be caused by various things going on in your body. There is also a very good chance it is a mental response your body is throwing at you because the body doesn’t want to work.

“The one who doesn’t work, doesn’t eat”, the Bible aptly mentions. Sometimes the solution for being stuck is to sit down and do what you’re supposed to do. One of the discoveries of this life I’m living is that, after sitting down and forcing myself to write or do other projects my body is retrained to not put up those signals. That means, I am not resting until I finish what I’m doing.

Yeshuah (Jesus Christ) tells us about this in the Bible by telling us that we “must deny himself and take up your cross and follow me”. Believing God comes with the gift that we can do the things we need to do when we are in the will of God. It is not about religion but about life. The life we live is not easy, but we can live this life fully.

That means, in Messiah (Christ), we are able to pull ourselves out of “stuck”. Sometimes it takes prayer and action in faith. Other times it requires believing and doing the work. God empowered us to do the things we are doing in this life, His way. That means we do not have to throw pills or liquid down our throats. Not knocking because I do take my vitamins and I like me a cup of coffee every now and again.

But when we feel stuck because of a lack of energy we simply need to consider what we’re doing and find a way to restart. A good way is to do the project little by little by starting early. This gives us time to fight the hiccups going on in our bodies so we can get the work done at a good pace, even if it is slow.

There are times also when we need to change our minds about a thing. God tells us in the Bible that some of His people will do exploits – Daniel 11:32 – the verse is about a man who will corrupt some with flattery, but the people of God will do amazing things. When we look into it and apply this principle, we can take control of our bodies and make it do the work we have in mind to do.

Our bodies can break down for so many reasons and the messages of today tells us that we should just take it easy and rest. But if we are believers we come to an understanding when we study the Bible that God has empowered us to live this life. The work of our hands is blessed, we are blessed in our homes, blessed in the streets and fields. So should we treat ourselves like useless infants who need to take a rest every time we move?

The resounding answer is no; the reality is our bodies become what we train it to do. That includes our minds. If we treat it to fail we will fail at everything our minds press against. If we pay attention to the truth, we can do anything in life. Nothing is impossible for us. Yeshuah (Jesus) said so. That means that nothing is impossible to us if we believe. Why would we then take advice from people who don’t understand that principle.

The moral here is; although I won’t say anything against being handicapped in some way shape or form; laziness will kill everything we want to do. But if we believe in God we need to get up and do the things we need to do. Failure to launch is failure that comes because we don’t try. What I mean by that is, we surrender too often to our bodies when all we have to do is apply Psalm 91:13 against the young lion of our flesh, just saying.
