The Story

We toed that line

Brain-twisting dysfunction by sublime

Who was to say we weren’t in orbit

Tumbling down, like we got blindsided

Down there was no form to be true to

Drop down headlong with no future to speak through

For a while they saw us and nobody would sponsor

Planting seeds of terror

Plenty juice and no coffee

Learning chopsticks by coffin

Bad plastic mugs just as often

We can raise our hands just to show we made it

Black valleys and side alleys show how much stress we waded

Can I shout out if there was ever a dull moment

All those hours pending and not a day to atone for

Not a day passed we didn’t bleed hunger

No food, no shoes, got us all in uproar

Still no one heard us, our issue just not popular

Them folk, they alright, it’s just a little bit a thunder

Got handed some stew we think was leftover

But who’s gonna know what grew a fat gut

Nobody said anybody gotta touch

Far as all go, they got too much

Wait for heaven

Still can’t count up like heaven

Folk watched close like religion and a heathen

Didn’t think nothing of it but the fall made it a sensation

Down there at the bottom

We’ll swear almost caught on

But we ran man, it ran man

Ran till we made compelling

Ran till it made must watch television

That first time they heard one million

The higher ups crowded around the same little cube

Watch it, that’s the target, see what it’s gonna do

They will shed one by one, just like in madness

Because they can talk they’ll shout the loudest

Think we just broke the tie

Still toeing the line

Still orbiting sunshine

Still toeing that line

Still toeing that line
