One hundred miles an hour is too slow for most people today. Not driving speed, the speed of life. We want it now and faster, if at all possible. As a civilization we have innovated and invented technologies to help us get the maximum results we can from our efforts. When it has worked we didn’t shy away from giving ourselves kudos for a job well done.
With all the hustle and bustle, we really just need to chill sometimes, as we would say in my younger days. The old way of slowing down to check for quality is mostly gone. Nowadays we have no chill.
We can all see the lack of restraint we have by the vast amounts of failures in our products and services. Our checks and balances have fallen by the wayside in some cases. Rise in food borne illnesses and all. But progress does demand speed.
With technology and the advent of professionalism, life is full speed ahead because there is always someone looking to beat the competition. So, if life feels rushed you’re not alone. There is a mad rush to go nowhere fast.
But do we have to follow along? The word of God says “Be still and know that I am God”. It’s a tough ask to the people alive on earth these days. I feel it often and want to rush with the crowd. Doesn’t seem to work too great because everyone else is getting stuff done, or at least that’s what we hear. Those who truly believe though can tell you that God has a way of working things out for us.
Mature believers know that when we slow our pace, we give God space to direct our steps and work things out. I know the “get it now” society we live in have all of us tied up in hurry knots but we can still take our time and enjoy the process of life and quality outcomes.
Slowing down and allowing the Lord to direct our steps holds a lot of value, regardless of how much other people seem to get done. God produces quality work in everything He does, Jesus Christ the ultimate example of God’s perfection. One sacrifice and we’re not only saved, but empowered to live abundant lives.
While life can be hectic because of all our demands on each other and the days, most times, we can still take our time and let things fall where they may. Isaiah 30:15 reminds us that sometimes we just need to rest and believe God. The list of reasons are too long to put here.
Putting out trust in God and slowing down allows us to see that we don’t have to be in control of the whole process of living or doing. Of course, we can continue to opt into the mad rush for life according to our now society, but peace is so much better. Better yet, the faith to believe God and live like it is priceless. You ought to try it some day if you haven’t.
As always, thanks for stopping by Spiritseid. I truly hope you enjoyed today’s meandering lines and good word. Hopefully you subscribed or liked this post and page. Until next time, peace.
