Perfection is Overrated

Perfection is Overrated by Spiritseid

You’re supposed to know how this works by now.

People with OCD and perfectionists know a thing about how things should look. How things should work. We all want things to go right and, for the most part we can make things work the way we want. That is of course until we can’t. And that is what we’re going to discuss tonight. That life destroying “having it all figured out” thing.

Life is not a breeze every day. Certainly not for me. Life has always presented struggles as I have observed everyone goes through. Some days are better than others and, most days there is someone vying for the limited time we spend awake.

Adulting can suck the light out of anyone. One day we suddenly wake up and there are bills to pay, routines and stuff, school for some, and chores and family, which can be the biggest hurdles to adulting. A lot of people throw the word responsible around like it matters when we’re having the worst day. We are supposed to be responsible adults after all.

But what is life actually consisted of more freedom than we allow ourselves to believe? “I have come so that they may have life, and have it more abundantly”. Yes, Bible, the words of Jesus Christ for my fellow believers. You see, when are learning in school there is a lot of emphasis on us being the go to. A lot of emphasis on us learning what to do and being able.

And life has a way of being on 24/7 attack mode with most of us. But God did something that most of us have not yet figured out, because we either don’t believe or we believe the religious hype. But it is so good to believe the truth.

We are called to believe and to live like we believe what we believe. But what if we also agree with what we believe? I mean, you listen to people who are acclimated to science and you see them stepping into life by those principles because they agree; what goes up does come down and so on and so forth.

When the Lord told believers that He came for us to have abundant life it was not empty talk. But, it was an invitation to ask what that means. Most people hear abundance and think stuff. I used to until I saw that life was made to be lived. We’re born with nothing and, if we agree with God are given everything. An empty claim until we read Gensis carefully.

But it doesn’t end there. We fell away from God. God pursed and gave us a way back to His kingdom. But He also tells us in Proverbs 3 to truth in Him and not in our own. One of the things I have come to understand about this, about life, is that as we live if we realize that God has everything figured out we can trust him to guide us,

When become attuned to focusing on what God says about life rather than what we think or our collective knowledge, we learn something important. What we learn if we’re willing to look makes life simple and allows us to live the abundant life we’re given. God has already figured it out so we don’t have to.

As this made sense I began to realize I didn’t need to figure it out, I could trust that God had already figured it out. That takes a lot of pressure out of adulting. Spending time with God, by studying His word (Bible) and calling on Jesus (Yeshuah), all the knowledge I thought I had in my younger days became true knowledge.

The reality of life is that the more we rely on God the less we have to struggle alone. The key point here is, alone. John 3:16 when looked into tells us that God didn’t want us to be alone, he wants us with him and if we read further 14:23 we see that if we believe and agree with him and walk in His ways, then he comes and makes his home with us. Isn’t that amazing.

The more we live this way, in agreement with God’s words, is the more we realize that most of what we learn in society can be set aside; after sin, life took a detour into darkness that relying on Christ removes for those who truly believe.

When the Bible says we are new creatures and that God is at work in us, we can see as we mature that God remakes us from the inside out. It is like a brand new man shows up in this body a lot of days. Things that used to bring me down give me reasons to celebrate because I know I’m about to learn something new. Nothing happens overnight, so sometimes one struggle’s effects will last for a little while so I can reflect and be given proper learning.

Paul says it this way; I gladly glory in my infirmities. But the life we are living now can be so much better, as believers and Christians if we agree with God. Patience is key because nothing happens overnight.
