They say life begins at birth
But Life begins when you believe in life
There isn’t a single moment in the time we live
Because all who have lived know that life begins each day we’re alive
It’s not just about breathing
Life is when you choose to live
It is the freedom to choose to bear up and strain
When all our circumstances offer is pain
Because we know we will come through somehow
We remain strident if life shows us our flaws
The first day we were born we were templates of who we came from
After that through the years we are to become
But what will we become as we live
Will it be what we said when we are children
Or are we to live with the regret of never becoming
That is one path if we let everything but life define life for us
But those who are alive know our past are lessons
What we’ve done or been done to us can’t define us
We are as different from yesterday as the moon is from the sun
Because we’ve alive today, it is today life begun
Now because I carry the lessons from yesterday I am stronger
So that the visions in my mind are always a wonder
So this breath I take now makes me moments wiser
New life today that brings me closer
To the edge of all eternity’s keep
Wide awake, never again to sleep
I can see through that old life
Where the chains lay dashed aside
My eyes wide on life that cannot be taken
Praise for the life that will never again be shaken
Today is that day when the old ends
So that today also the new life would begin
