We all want to live well. I know I do. Balance in life is something we all look for. We don’t always know how to work the scales. But we can learn. How, might you ask? The first step is to be willing to give up some of what we’ve learned. To unlearn, we will need to unpack a lot of the thoughts and definitions we’ve packed into our heads over the years.
The Spiritseid definition of living well
Living well begins with knowledge and how we use that knowledge. Because of that people with money and without money are seeking all sorts of teachers (coaches) and outlets. The effects of living well shows up in the times when we’re alone with our thoughts.
We can know we’re truly living well when our world is falling apart but we’re assured that peace in us will outlast the trouble. Even if the world shakes, we have an innate assurance to keep still and be at peace. We can always get things and lose things, knowledge stays, so we can live a good life.
Everybody on earth wants to live well. But we tend to make living difficult for one another. We do so because of the things we want, and how we go about trying to get those things. But a well-balanced life does not come by income brackets, social class, or a race or culture; everyone wants to live well.
The desire to live a well-balanced life has led many of us to do things that caused harm to ourselves, others, and even nature and the planet. Just imagine mysterious illnesses in far flung places, extinction, suffering, & all sorts of wickedness because we want to live well.
But we can live a well-balanced life that can benefit others and the planet as well. Let’s jump into this. The people who believe God and who pursue the knowledge of the kingdom of God have an answer. Micah 6:8 says ‘God has shown mankind how we should live. That we should act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God’.
The problems we see in the world is the result of sin; that is disobedience to God. That sin started long ago with Adam, the first man on earth. Since that time, sin now incorporates wicked actions and evil that has taken hold of the world. Sin and its effects can be seen in everything we do.
That does not stop us from living well, because God redeemed believers to be able to live a life filled with good. When we get knowledge that removes our need to focus on problems and stress, we get healthier. The Bible gives us clear instruction in Matthew 6:33 to pursue the kingdom of God and His righteousness.
When take time to study the word of God and believe it, so that we act on the word of God when making decisions, we change. A part of the change for those who are willing to investigate the word of God to gain knowledge to use, come to an understanding of what good living really is.
With time and practice we can begin to focus on what God says, rather than what we think and feel, or even what people say. Refined knowledge can remove a lot of stress for some who come to believe God and so, are moved to act by the word of God. That is because God works things out for the good of those who trust in Him, as we’re told in Romans 8:28.
That does not mean we get everything we want; but the word of God says, “anything you ask for in my name, believe that you have it, and it will be done.” That is found in Mark 11:24. We who ask for peace of mind and to know the truth of the gospel get great insight. That insight can include the precepts of God; like, why he says certain things.
Those who dedicate time to studying to understand the word of God and His kingdom, get knowledge that can reshape the knowledge in our heads. It can also remove how we interact with our memories. Truth can reshape our knowledge and behaviors, given time and practice. The more we practice what we’re learning from the Lord the more potent that knowledge can become in us.
People who live well express their faith in Jesus Christ in bold ways. Faith-life can eliminate fear and anxiousness when we make decisions. The more we practice doing what the word of God says the more we learn from Him. It’s like playing a sport; the more practice we put in, the better we become at that sport and may even reshape those around us.
How does this help with living well?
People who live well live intentionally so. When we have a ton of learning and no action on that learning, we become duds. But those who live intentionally develop a different way of being and thinking. Given time, we gain better control of our thoughts and what we allow into our brains, which then shapes our interactions with people and our world.
Add this for those who do not believe, yet; the Bible tells us that when we are in Jesus Christ we become new creatures. New way of thinking. I can testify to this fact because over the last 10 years, I have changed from a man who was anxious about everything to a man who lives a life free from anxiety when making decisions. Work in progress.
Living well isn’t something that happens overnight. If you see solutions that promise to get you up the hill overnight… better critical think it. Can it happen? Yes. But living well requires a different mindset. It requires getting rid of a lot of things inside our minds, otherwise we can end up getting everything we want out of life and still be miserable.
