Problems are everywhere, affecting everybody. It is not just you. They tend to find us even when we don’t want them around. But we can overcome every problem we face. I’ll tell you why I’m so confident about that soon. Last time we spoke about effective problem solving, I laced it with the need to be patient. Who wants problems anyway, right? We all face one problem or another from time to time. Some more than others. A lot of people give up or keep trying the same thing. Sometimes though, problems are great for learning and experimenting.
People who have patience usually get by because the wait out the problem. But, we want to solve the problems we can solve in life, instead of sweeping them under the rug. That could come back to haunt you later.
Patience is one of the greatest tools we have been gifted in life. Patience seem to be the only thing that allows us to slow ourselves down. People who are patient can get a better view of their issues and formulate better plans to address them.
There are problems that we can’t outlast though. We just have to face them or give ground to the effect or results of these issues. But a patient person who takes time to critical think a problem from the point of view of finding a solution can become a problem to problems.
What do I mean? A person who believes in their ability to find solutions will be able to do what seems impossible to most people. The Bible back that up in Mark 9 verse 23 by saying “All things are possible to the one who believes”. As a man who believes God and believes in Jesus, I have seen this for myself. How good it is to believe God.
People who believe they can do things tend to face their challenges with zest even when it feels hard. We get plenty of practice with bad feelings and difficult days. But when we are faced with problems that will require patience and perseverance we learn to think deeply about the solutions to the problem.
Why look at only the problem? The problem is there and is worth critical thinking for a time, but only as far as understanding how it began. If we can see that we can also look into all the issues tied to the problem. Having the facts allows us to do some deep thinking about the problem. A negative mind might tend to linger on the problem.
Critical thinking is good practice because considering the problem allows us to search for solutions with the same intensity we do the problem. Over time, critical thinkers won’t just see the problem but seek solutions to problems. Over time with a focus on solutions rather than problems our minds shift. The way we address problems change and we begin to approach challenges with a new zeal.
People who believe God know that we are empowered to solve problems for ourselves and for other people. Sometimes it works out well other times we just need to endure but a mind focused on solutions sees the great things God has done for us in Jesus Christ. The gateway to living a full life is in that understanding.
But the next time you’re facing a problem ask yourself, “what are the solutions available for this problem”? It takes practice because our minds tend to want to stay on the problem, but I have found that the more we ask ourselves what the solution is; the more our minds begin to look into solutions, rather than focus solely on the problem.
For those who believe God, well, we know God delivers us out of most of our troubles so that others could see us living and come to want to know how. Let’s have a conversation if you have questions about what you just read. The information and conversation is free with nothing to buy, ever.
