The Story I will Tell

The people were eating and drinking, marrying and being given into marriage the day the doors of the arc was secured while they lived it up. When the rain began they continued to live until it became clear that the storm was going to be the storm of the century, for their days. If we were able to interview any from that generation today, I bet the first words would be, “if we had only know he was right we would have changed like Noah said”.

Jesus said of His generation, in Matthew 11 verse 17, “say, we played the flute for you and you did not dance, we sang a dirge and you did not lament”. A tale of the ages. In the time of Noah, after Enoch, Methuselah, and then Noah preached to the people, bemoaned the violence and sinful actions of their generations, no one paid attention. The Prophet Joel testifies in 2 verse 28, and the Apostles told of it in Acts chapter 2 verse 17, of the Lord “In the last days I will pour out my Spirit on ALL people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams”; And so we have the Gospel of Jesus Christ risen, being preached by Apostles, preachers, evangelists, street preachers, those knocking on doors all bearing witness to the same thing, “Repent and seek Jesus Christ because the end is near”.

The Psalmist says, “If you should hear His voice today, do not harden your hearts”. Jesus testifies of himself in John 6 verse 29, “believe in the One that He has sent.” That is it. Believe in Jesus as the Son of God, whom the Lord God has sent into the world to take away sin. There isn’t a ton of work to do, that is the grace and mercy and love of God. Instead of working to establish our salvation, God took away the sin of anyone who believes in Jesus, by the acts of Jesus Christ. But you must be willing to go to Jesus for yourself to receive your salvation from the Lord.

Learning about Jesus isn’t difficult. There are pastors on Television, evangelists, street preachers, and digital ministries, telling the story of Jesus; if you’re not a reader, there are places to listen to the word of God as well. Nearly everywhere you turn, on social media we tell the story of Jesus; the love of God, what God has done for us so that those who hear know that God will forgive anyone who comes to repentance in the name of Jesus Christ. Whatever you have done, God is willing to forgive you through Jesus Christ His Son.

The stories you hear preached, read, or find will not always be pretty, nor will they always be eloquent, but they will be honest, reflecting the story of Jesus Christ who willingly died for our sins and rose from the grave so that we could live. As it is written 2nd Corinthians chapter 4 verse 5, “We do not preach about ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake”. The stories we tell reflect the work that Jesus Christ has done for and in us, because we can do nothing to save ourselves or anyone else, except to preach Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior so that anyone who is willing to believe will be saved. Therefore, the story I will tell is of Jesus Christ crucified and risen so that you and I could live, and all we have to do to receive forgiveness and life in Christ, is to believe in Jesus Christ.

We do this because we know that the day is coming, like in the days of Noah, when the arc will come and some of us will be taken; and God wants as many of us saved as possible. Jesus testifies in the book of Matthew chapter 24 verse 30 “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory”.

The story I will tell is of Jesus Christ who came to save all. Who lived as a man without sin. Who took all of our sins upon himself and died the death we deserved. Who rose from the grave so that we could live with him. And who ascended to the right hand of God so that through Christ, we receive the free grace of God – able to go boldly before God as the Lord intends for us to. Thanks to the mercies of the Father of Jesus Christ who worked tirelessly to redeem those of us who will listen. The story I will tell is to shine the light God gave to me on Jesus Christ His Son, so that any who believe will rise to meet him in the air on the day of his coming. There is no other way.
