Take me to the water

Not to us, Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness, Psalms 115 begins. One reminder that the Lord covered the cost of our sin and shame by the blood of Jesus Christ His Son. If there is any doubt about whom it is that saved us by the loving sacrifice, we only need to visit the book of Isaiah, turning to chapter forty-two (42), and verse 8 where God says “I will not give my glory to another, nor my praise to worthless idols”, we begin to understand what God was willing to do for man, for the sake of His great name. He redeemed a people for Himself in a way that justifies the righteousness given to us in Christ. Jesus confirms the words of God in the book of Matthew chapter 3 verse 15, when he said to John “Let it be so now, it is proper for us to fulfill all righteousness”; after he had gone to John to be baptized, and John wanted Jesus to baptize him instead.

Jesus, in the book of John 7 verse 38 said “whoever believes in me, as scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him”. For people who haven’t heard the full gospel because they either refuse or heard from the lips of people who don’t believe and decided they believe non-believers, a lot of the gospel can be confusing – without accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior it is impossible to understand what you’re hearing and reading. A fact I can explain perfectly, which led to my take me to the water moment (baptism).

Now here is the truth; if you are basing your decision not to hear the words of the gospel because you do not agree with a church’s message, there are several denominations. If you are basing your decisions on what someone who doesn’t believe says, that’s like a diabetic drinking a cup of sugar because a non-diabetic says it’ll give you energy. If you’re angry at a church leader, don’t trade your soul for that one, go straight to Jesus and submit your prayer directly and He will give you the truth. What I have learned is, when it comes to God, it is better to speak directly to God, in the name of Jesus Christ and believe in your heart that He will answer you, and if you haven’t been baptized ask the Lord to take you to the water and the doors will open for you.

God warns through the prophet Isaiah 2:22 “Stop trusting in man, who has but a breath in their nostrils. Why hold them in esteem?” In exodus 23:1 the word says “Don’t join hands with the wicked”, and further the Psalmist in 146:3 laments “do not put your trust in powerful people, nor the son of men, because there is no help in them”. We all struggle with the same vices and overcome only by the blood of Jesus Christ. Submit all your troubles and requests to him in prayer and believe, God said “listen to him” in Luke 9:35, and Jesus explained by saying “whoever hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock” in Matthew 7:24. If you feel a burning desire to know more about God, ask Jesus to take you to the water.

Lord I pray for non-believers who read this, that you will search their hearts and bring take them to the water if they desire a closer walk with you. Let them know that you will cross every divide for those who love you and carry them according to the words on their lips and the desire in their hearts to be with you, even with the eyes of their adversaries watching. I pray also for those who believe in you and are struggling to understand. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord and savior.
