At Your Worst Moments of Anxiety and Trouble

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those whose spirits are crushed, the Psalmist wrote in Psalms 34:181 – highlighting the true beauty of the only God whose love for us is infinitely deep. The Lord draws near to us when we are at rock bottom. The Lord comes to walk with us because He loves us and wants to keep us safe. The book of Matthew 9 verse 292 tells us, “According to your faith so will it be done for you” – meaning that if we talk to God and believe, then what we ask Him for will be given to us because of God’s generosity. Especially in the times we’re struggling in life.

Anxiety, problems, incidentals; you name it, Jesus is by our side; I have come to know this promise is true because the Lord has rescued me in times when I wasn’t even able to unable to be faithful to him. Jesus is also close to people who have not yet believed in him because it is the will of God that everyone who calls on the name of Jesus is saved, as written in Joel 2:323 and John 3:36.4

Many people went to the prophet, John the Baptist in the days he was preaching repentance and the coming of the Lord, who we now know is Jesus Christ. The people that went to John were not the cream of the crop of the Israelite society back then, but those considered the worst of the worst. The people learned from John that God was making a way to forgiveness for them in the form of the one whose sandal straps he was not worthy to untie (John 1:27)5. The peace that Jesus offers in John 4:276 is for all of us. You and me without prejudice of our right or wrong. Only that we believe in Jesus.

That peace is what kept Job and restored him to health when the devil tested him to the gills. The peace of God also rested upon Joseph (Genesis 457), an early patriarch of Israel who was sold into slavery and would become a leader of Egypt, because of his faith in the God of his father, Jacob. The same God who is the Father of Jesus Christ. Daniel in the time of the Babylonian empire was thrown to the lions because he refused to bow down and worship a statue (Daniel 6:208) set up by king Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. God shut the mouth of the lions and Daniel was rescued unharmed and promoted in Babylon.

The grace of God is given freely to everyone in Jesus Christ. All we need to do is repent & turn to God, and believe in Jesus. Then we have direct access to God, through prayer and in our hearts. In times of trouble, God is with us. When we believe we can also pray for people who don’t yet believe in Jesus, so we are never without hope.

Even at our worst moments if we call on the name of Jesus Christ out of a sincere heart, God will look at us with pity. That is why when we believe and mature in the Spirit of grace we testify of the grace and mercy of God. We know who saved us when we first believed in Jesus. We believe in the gospel and know the power of the word of God. We believe in Jesus, the only one who can save us from sin and help us in all our troubles. Everyone who turns to God and believe in Jesus receives this grace. Seek God while he may be found.

I believe Jesus is that friend who sticks closer to us than a brother in good times and bad times. A loving presence willing to rescue us from dangers we face in life, and every unrighteousness that afflicts us. Our friend is faithful to every word He has spoken and wants only the best for us. In our worst moments of behavior or days, Jesus Christ offers us His peace. It is a promise to everyone. Turn to God call on the name of Jesus and accept the free grace God longs for you to have.

Remember, the Lord has said and it is written in Matthew 9:129 “It is not the healthy who need a physician, it is the sick”. Come to the physician and get your wounds healed while the office is open.
