The word perseverance conjures images of duress for religious reasons. But perseverance is about much more than that. Perseverance is writing past the writer’s block trying to stop us from finishing a simple Spiritseid blog post for or our books. Perseverance is about being able to move past the fear trying to stop us from understanding the full word of God. Perseverance is about getting up even though our bodies feel like it just wants to stay down. Life if full of moments when we need to persevere. We sometimes only need to see the larger picture to understand that we are in a moment where we are the embodiment of what it means to persevere.
For we who believe in God, the Lord, the Father of Jesus Christ, know we can persevere because we have a Father who cannot fail. Tested and tried our faith in God grows each time we look back on our actions and realize how we got through, that the Lord carried on with the things we set out to do when we were hard-pressed to finish.
When we need to persevere our minds move to that focus stage we’re trained to get to, where, as the old folks used to say, “a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do”. But remember that you can ask God to intervene and help you do the task at hand, even if it’s just to find the strength to get out of bed to face the day. Our God is faithful and willing to do even the smallest thing to give us victory, because of His great love for those who turn to Him. It is because of this love that we come to trust in the Lord as we come to know Him fully, and it is because of this great love we have the opportunity to know Him. Let’s make full use of the opportunity and be like the apostles who relied on the sufficient grace of God we have, in Jesus Christ.
Heavenly Father, we come before you today seeking the strength I need to face (name a challenge in your life – anything). I know I need to persevere through the weariness but I don’t know how to get through this, and I know your power will overcome and give me/us the correct outcome, because you are a just and compassionate God. Thank you now and always in the name of your Son Jesus. Amen!
