“The Holy Spirit says: Today if you should hear his voice, do not harden your hearts” Hebrews 3 : 7-8
I have met people who half-laugh while asking “would God really forgive someone like me”. If you’re reading The Letter; the answer is yes. If you’re reading this you probably didn’t find this article on Spiritseid by accident; search your heart and follow the good you’re being told, if you’re reading this and wondering – would God forgive someone like me? As crazy as this might sound, speak to Jesus, even in your heart and ask him forgive you. God answers us when we speak to him; according to Jeremiah 29:13 – you will find Him when you seek him with your whole heart.
The Bible tells us that “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” in Romans 10:13 – but you have to believe in Jesus to call on His name. If you’re reading this, you are invited to read that chapter. If you don’t have a Bible or want someone to help you read, the church down the road from wherever you are has brothers and sisters who are willing to study the Bible with you so you can get to know the loving Lord you’ll speak to. But you must make the decision to go to the Lord who is willing to listen and act on your behalf.
If you’re reading this and asking, me too; God is willing to forgive the worst man or woman alive today if they asked. Even if you have said you don’t believe in God, but you’re curious; if you’re reading this and your heart is moved to appeal to God to know Him, then speak to him in prayer or just talk, or open a Bible to know more. Don’t be afraid of what you read because the Lord Jesus Christ died so that you would not have to fear, just give yourself the chance to learn about the Lord – your chance to be free from the doubt.
When thinking about forgiveness, the question really isn’t “if God will forgive”, the question boils down to are we willing to learn about Jesus Christ and accept Him. God’s grace has already covered forgiveness for everyone who believes in Jesus. You can’t know someone you’re not willing to learn about. But, if you are willing, then Jesus is willing.
If you’re reading this, you may be asking is God real; the answer is yes. God is not something someone explains to you or shows you. God, the Lord is the presence of life that you yourself must choose to approach. God has an open invite to all people, He continues to call to all of us leaving the answer to the ones being called. If you’re reading this and you haven’t yet called or you have doubts, it is your invitation to ask the questions holding you back while expecting an answer. Because, if you’re reading this your eyes aren’t here to stare at li’l ol’ me.
One important reason I started Spiritseid is because of the free grace I received from Jesus, knowing what was happening in my life at the time. I was called to come home. Just to come home. But when one sees what home is and the beauty of the owner of the home, it is hard to keep silent and not praise and want to share the treasure we found. So even if you know me and think I’m crazy, I hope and pray instead that you believe. Measure everything you see written on Spiritseid in your Bible, because that is where the truth resides. My words are just my way of using the gift the Lord gave me to try to reach your eyes.
The gospel, it reads like a love note written by a jealous husband and Father with its “turn from your ways and I will heal you”, and its invitations to the wedding reception of the Lamb. That is because the great Love of God has never abandoned even the worst of us, I testify to this being among the worst of His children. And yet here I am pouring out with the talent the Lord was willing to help me cultivate even while I was in rebellion.
If you’re reading this and wondering if “God would answer me”, understand that I didn’t do anything special when the Lord called to me. I was going about my life. I thought I was doing something good only to learn that the Lord had other plans. He called me. He carried me like I’m sure he’s done many others before me. I answered, being nudged and called to, I answered. The Lord did the rest. He took a stubborn heart and made it compliant and taught me. Now, I wake with praise and calm even in anxious moments. I have found the peace of the Lord, given praise and thanksgiving in my heart so I can worship in Spirit and in truth as it is written ( John 4:24). Far from perfected, I like sharing and I like writing, which seem to go well together.
If you’re reading this, it is written of you “I have loved you with an everlasting love, I have draw you with unfailing kindness” (Jeremiah 31:3), and “Come to me; all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest” (Matthew : 11:28), and yet again in the book of John he says “I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love” (John 15:9). If you’re reading this and asking how this could be about you; the words of the Bible are the Lord’s testimony to every generation of earth and to each and every one of us who have been on earth. If you’re still reading this, you were never excluded from God’s free grace. You are invited to come to the one who invites you and freely receive as we all who call ourselves, “saved” have.
If you’re still reading this and don’t understand. The books included in the Bible you know, may have heard of, may have read is God’s testimony of what He would do in order to save us. He saw each of us from Adam down through the generations. Through the Holy Spirit He says “Today if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts (Hebrews 3: 7-8).” The love of the Lord is so much that if you begin to answer him even in your hearts the Lord has already moved to come to you. Put all of your own expectations of a theatrical ending away and just pay attention; Jesus help me. Father help me. Both of these work just fine if you don’t know what to say.
For you who have questions about God or have questions about Jesus. The only “work” required of you is to believe in the Lord as it is written in John 6 verse 29 “The work of God is this: believe in the one he has sent”. If you’re reading this and don’t believe it’s that simple to accept the free grace of God, go to your nearest church and ask the pastor and, compare what you hear with what is written in the Bible. There are audio Bibles for those who don’t like to read and podcasts a plenty.
Forgiveness and salvation are free gifts given to us by God, started from generations ago, planned before the world began as it is written, Titus 1 verse 2 “God that cannot lie, promised before the world began”. Ever faithful, God hears us and comes to see us in our wanderings through life to see if we are ready to speak to Him to receive his free gift of grace.
If you are still reading, the simplicity of the Bible is this. God promised to save us. God sent Jesus to the earth as our salvation, our Immanuel whom he promised by Himself he would send, Jesus lived according to the will of the Father, Jesus died and was resurrected by the power of God. We receive salvation and life when we believe in Jesus. Simple.
If you’re reading this; that feeling touching your heart isn’t these words. Don’t harden your heart against what you feel and don’t believe you can’t be forgiven for anything you’ve done.
